Denis Wiart, P.Eng.
Director & ONEC CEODenis is the CEO of the ONEC Group of Companies and has been one of the founding partners since 2001. He is a mechanical engineer and has 23 years of experience in project management, engineering, quality assurance, and design. Denis’ specific industry specialties include utilities (water, power generation, and chemicals) as well as general piping design for industrial and pipeline projects.
Ian Park, P.Eng.
Director & Midstream EngineerIan joined ONEC in 2004 and became a principal in 2005. He has more than 24 years of hands-on experience in engineering design, construction engineering, plant engineering, engineering management, and project management. Ian’s area specialties include safety systems, systems equipment, and finite element and dynamic analysis.
Director & Vice President Operations, ConstructionJerome joined ONEC in 2006 and became a Director in 2013. He is a dual-ticketed Journeyman with over 25 years of shop, field, and shutdown experience. Jerome has been involved in the planning and coordination of multiple shutdowns throughout his career and is well-versed in the direction and management of multi-discipline projects. Jerome is responsible for the whole of the construction division and specializes in power, petrochemical, hydrogen, and pulp and paper. Safety is Jerome’s number one priority.
Indigenous and External Affairs DirectorCrystal joined ONEC in 2018. She is the Indigenous and External Affairs Director for ONEC and has over 10 years experience in the both resource and social service sectors. Crystal brings unique insight into working with both Indigenous peoples and industry leaders and negotiates mutually beneficial partnerships with local Indigenous communities and industry alliances. She is passionate about creating meaningful relationships that have positive impact both socially and economically.
Richard Holley, C.E.T., PMP
Director & Major Projects Operations ManagerRichard has been with ONEC since 2007 and became a director in 2013. He has over 20 years of experience in a spectrum of project management roles within numerous engineering and industry firms. Richard guides the in-house project management processes, including mentorship of fellow project managers and coordinators.
Shaun Jones, P.Eng.
Director & Business Manager, Pacific NorthwestShaun joined ONEC in 2006 and became a director in 2013. He is an Electrical Engineer with over 15 years of experience in roles spanning from design engineer to plant engineer. Shaun’s specialty areas include control system upgrades, DCS and HMI programming, PLC programming, low voltage power distribution, motor controls, and electric heat tracing.
External Board of Directors
ONEC has engaged some external board directors that bring a wealth of experience to the team. Our new board members include Darren Rawson, Brent Hesje, Angela Fong, and Rob Heron.
Darren is a Principal at Ozone Advisory Group, an advisory services firm helping private companies enhance enterprise value through high-performance governance and strategy. Darren has enjoyed a diverse career spanning a variety of industries including upstream/downstream oil & gas, industrial chemicals, specialty metals, manufacturing, distribution, and construction. He is a proven executive with 17 years of experience as CEO of mid-sized companies including Cougar Drilling Solutions, Vallen, and Shanahan’s. He has been doing business internationally for over 22 years throughout the Americas, Asia, and Europe.
Darren is an active Corporate Director and Board Chair, sitting on numerous non-profit and private company boards in engineering, construction, machine learning, and oil & gas. He is Vice Chair at Edmonton Global and sits on the executive for the Edmonton chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Brent is the CEO of Fountain Tire Ltd., an Edmonton based top 10 tire chain in North America. Brent has served as chair for several boards including: the NAIT Board of Governors, the YPO Alberta Chapter, the Western Canada Tire Dealers and The Support Network and is currently Chair of the Automotive Industry Association of Canada located in Ottawa.
Angela is Chair of the Edmonton Economic Development which reports to the Edmonton City Council – appointed Board of Directors. Angela is also Chief Corporate & Human Resources Officer of the Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) which is one of the largest and most diversified institutional investment managers and responsible for the investments of 32 pension, endowment and government funds in Alberta. Angela also services as Chair of the Governance & Human Resources Committee for the Covenant Foundation Board.
Rob is part of Assurance and Advisory Services at Ross Pasnak (KRP) and currently manages the firms larger audit clients and many of the firms publicly traded clients. He has significant experience with businesses in the manufacturing , construction and oil and gas service industries. In addition to an extensive audit and assurance background, he offers financial, business and tax advice that is clear, concise and important to owner-managed businesses.
