When you think about our team, we want you to think professional, personable, and innovative because those are the types of people we seek out, knowing the value they’ll bring to our organization and, ultimately, to our clients.

This month’s edition of the ONEC Advantage Blog is a Staff Spotlight: Q&A on long-time Electrical/Instrumentation Designer Janet Cheng. With over 15 years of design experience for both new and existing industrial facilities, Janet is well-versed in panel layout and design, wiring diagrams, instrumentation loop diagrams, cable schedules, and lighting calculations. Also, Janet is accomplished with both AutoCAD and MicroStation for creating 2D engineering drawings.

Let’s get to know Janet a little better. Check out the Q&A portion of this Staff Spotlight below!

How did you get started in your career?
When I was young, my parents worked in a factory producing fertilizer and I was very curious about this work. How did different materials come together to create new products? Later in life, when I attended university in my home country, I chose a school and a major related to instruments and process automation.

How long have you been with ONEC?
A long time – over a decade at this point!

What do you like most about working at ONEC?
ONEC is extremely flexible, which allows me to better balance my work and personal life.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
That’s a hard choice, but empathy! This would help me with patience and creativity!

What’s one thing on your bucket list?
Moving somewhere warm once I retire.

We believe the only way to complete projects as you intended is to fully understand both your vision for the project and your decision-making process—this way, everything we do will be with your best interests in mind.
